WHY IT MATTERS
Serve-receive drives side-out. In our Sacramento small-group clinics (max 4 athletes), we train earlier reads, one decisive first step, and still shoulders so passes hold their line—even under pressure.
TECHNIQUE (ON-COURT CUES)
Stance: quiet feet, hips loaded, chest over knees, hands free.• Read: server toss height + elbow path → predict float/topspin & seam.• First step: micro-drop or micro-push, then FREEZE on contact—don’t chase.• Platform: lock the forearm triangle; angle set before the ball crosses the 10-ft line; finish to target.• Finish: recover forward—no rocking back.
COMMON MISTAKES WE FIX
Drifting on contact (moving platform = spray)• Late angle set (arms swing after the ball)• Over-shuffling vs. one decisive step & hold
GROUP DRILLS (MAX 4 ATHLETES)
Server Tell → Receiver Read — receivers call “float/topspin + seam” before contact, then pass.
Lane Gates (Angle Freeze) — cones create a gate to target; angle must be set before the ball crosses the 10-ft line.
Pressure Ladder 1→6 — random serves; string 6 perfect passes in order (1–6). Miss = back one zone.
CLINIC FORMAT & COHORTS
Length 60–75 min • Max 4 athletes • 5-session blocks (Fri/weekend options) • NCVA if venue requires • No trials
FAQS
Who should join? Liberos/DSs in middle & high school (U12–U18)?
All volleyball players, all positions—middle & high school (U12–U18).
Why max 4? More touches + real feedback every rep?
Small groups mean big growth. With only four players, everyone gets more touches, more personalized feedback, and the chance to truly level up. Younger players learn by training alongside older athletes, while less experienced players push themselves by competing with advanced teammates. This creates an environment that’s faster, smarter, and more game-like than large clinics—every rep counts, and no one gets lost in the crowd.
Can other positions join? Yes—any back-row specialist benefits?
Yes—any back-row specialist benefits from these sessions.
